What I wish was different
The managers for interns jobs and the intern coordinators at this company really need to reassess how they view interns in respect to what the goal of hiring them on is in the first place. I interned two years in a row at this company, and both times was well liked and appreciated and asked to return for work, however no job offers were given in either situation. I was simply told to apply for the next opening. I do not understand that ideology. If you need extra work for a summer and don't desire to keep them, hire temp workers. But interns are there to learn that line of work, and quite probably would like to work at that company. It is a probationary period that allows them to be trained in an environment where they can be mentored, and ultimately hired on as a career employee. It is a perfect opportunity to cultivate brand loyalty, employee motivation, and also provide proper training, which this company could use to its advantage.
