ITS Network Student Assistant

The ITS Network group administers support for data and network services to support the University's mission. We support thousands of wired and wireless network connections and supporting services throughout Wichita State’s main and satellite campuses.

This position is a part time position. That means 40 hours through the spring, summer and winter breaks and 30 hours (20 hours for international students) during the semesters.

Student workers must be available to start within 2 weeks. We will be interviewing during the application process and may close this listing early if viable candidates are found.

Job Purpose: 

The ITS Network Student Assistant is an entry-level position. The person in this position will perform routine tasks, participate in projects, and gain technical working skills. To apply for this position, you MUST have excellent Microsoft Office skills. You should know how to open and modify a Word document, enter formulas in Excel and navigate through Outlook.

Job responsibilities: 

·        Audit network support services

·        Unbox, mount, and prepare networking equipment for installation

·        Troubleshoot network connectivity issues

·        Document network processes

·        Errands for the department

·        Audit network support services

·        Monitoring and updating ticketing system

Equipment used:

·        Computer

·        Telephone

·        Calculator

Qualifications:

·        Typing, computer skills, office knowledge

·        Microsoft Office experience

·        Ability to work independently

·        Demonstrated ability to learn

What will put you ahead:

·        Experience in Linux and MacOS operating systems

·        Experience using Microsoft Office and learning from an advanced user

·        Ability to interact effectively with customers

·        Knowledge of office responsibilities

·        Customer service experience
