Student Social Media and Communications Coordinator

Under general supervision, the student employee will plan and implement communication strategies for services/programs at CAPS and HOPE and share wellness resources. This will include developing graphic elements related to wellness education/promotional events and services of the department to be used in a variety of marketing outlets. The student employee will distribute the graphics to CAPS/HOPE social media, Strategic Communications, and other marketing outlets.

Position Responsibilities: 

  • Managing Instagram, Facebook, and X social media accounts for:
    • CAPS
    • HOPE: includes working with the Prevention Ambassadors content creation and Suspenders4Hope #WeSupportU campaigns
    • Management entails creating a posting schedule, scheduling posts, monitoring and responding to comments.

 

  • Development of graphics and social media content for CAPS/HOPE
    • Coordinates with other staff members to complete assigned tasks. 
    • Communicate consistently with supervisor throughout development of assigned project.
    • Must be able to prioritize and manage more than one project at a time while meeting established deadlines.
    • Initiative to create graphics and marketing materials from basic idea that appeals to a diverse population
    • Proofing materials for grammar and spelling in the English language to avoid typos/errors in work
    • Using programs such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.
    • Create all materials utilizing established brand standards

 

  • Performs other duties as assigned related to completion of each project such as:
    • Managing timely requests for posting on campus news outlets
    • Helping with events and taking/posting pictures of the event in real time
      • Publicizing tabling/events on social media
    • Must complete FERPA/HIPAA training or can complete within 30 days of hire

 

Physical demands: 

Requires sustained use of color vision, fingering, seeing, sitting, standing, talking, typing, and hearing.  Required regular handling, holding, writing, grasping, and daily use of computer keyboard and mouse. 

 

Job Details

  • Salary will be $12.00 per hour at 15 hours per week.
  • Work schedule will be from May 2024 to May 2025 with exact dates to be determined by supervisor and student. Work location is the Student Wellness Center. 
  • Majority of duties will be accomplished between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on a schedule as determined by employee and supervisor and include at least 2/3 of the hours to be worked at the Student Wellness Center in-person. 
  • This position reports to the Wellness Program and Outreach Manager.
