Digital Media Student Assistant- Cohen Honors College

Digital Media Student Assistant

The Dorothy and Bill Cohen Honors College is seeking an undergraduate student assistant for digital media content along with general office support. This position supports college outreach and student services goals and is responsible for digital media production from creative concept and story boarding or scripting to filming, editing, and presenting. Digital media content work is supervised by the Director of Scholarship and Student Services. General office and front desk support is supervised by the Administrative Specialist. Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud or other editing software programs required. Position also requires discretionary judgment regarding student information and dean’s office communication.

Digital Media Responsibilities include:

  • Create rough and final cuts of video
  • Conceptualize, storyboard, script, and produce video content for various stakeholder audiences 
  • Edit and clean sound on video(eliminating buzz sounds, interviewer audio, long pauses, filler words, inhales, fill gaps with white noise, add appropriate music, etc.)
  • Input graphics to enhance footage (title cards, small animations, etc.)
  • Manipulate and edit footage in a way that is invisible to audience (clean transitions and effective video layering)
  • Ensure logic sequencing (topics are ordered in a way that make sense to viewers)
  • Improving and correcting lighting and coloring of video clips 
  • Presenting final product as needed 
  • Share information and work collaboratively with the social media and event planning and engagement student assistants

General Office Responsibilities include:

  • General reception including greeting guests, answering questions in-person, over the phone, and via email
  • Understand the resources available in the Cohen Honors College and direct students, staff, and faculty to appropriate resources or people within the office
  • Manage the student study area, printer and lounge
  • Manage minor supply orders
  • File, copy, scan documents
  • Assist with classroom setup and media support
  • Conduct data entry and records
  • Exercise discretionary judgment regarding student information and dean’s office communication
  • Other duties or special projects as assigned by office staff

Required Qualifications:

  • General understanding of computers (Apple OS)
  • Proficiency in editing software programs such as Adobe Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Ability to work collaboratively in an office environment
  • Ability to have a creative eye for improvements
  • Ability to follow through with instructions and assignments in a timely and professional manner
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks 
  • Ability to take initiative
  • Willingness to learn and take on challenges
  • Strong interest in customer service to present a positive image of the Honors College and the University
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with MS Office applications including Teams, Word, and Excel
  • Honors or Honors-eligible student with knowledge of Honors College resources

Hours per week: A student who works in the Cohen Honors College is expected to work 15-20 hours per week.

Schedule Information: Morning shift: 8am-12pm | Afternoon shift: 1-5pm (schedules can be flexible)
