Schedule: Average 20 hours per week, flexible schedule to accommodate classes, some evening and weekends.
The Dorothy and Bill Cohen Honors College seeks a graduate staff assistant, administrative assistant to support student services and retention. Duties may be comprised of general office duties along with some specialized duties such as coordinating meetings and committees. This position will support overall retention activities including scholarship awards. Depending on skills and interest, this role may coordinate mentorship and programming for the first-year student Honors Living-Learning Community in Shocker Hall and/or coordinate college community engagement activities and other programming.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Supports outreach and initiatives managed by the Director of Scholarships and Student Services to meet college retention goals
- Schedules and supports preparation for meetings, programs and/or special events.
- Prepares and distributes correspondence, forms, reports, presentation materials and other written communications, as required.
- Manages student forms and special requests
- Establishes and maintains filing systems
- May represent the Honors College at recruitment events and activities on and off campus
- Communicates effectively with a diverse group of students, staff and campus partners
- Understands and communicates University and College mission
- Other duties as assigned
Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree
Preferred Education:
Bachelor’s degree in communication, education, business administration or a related field
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated ability to work independently
- Strong knowledge of customer service principles and demonstrated ability to establish and maintain productive professional relationships in a diverse environment that promotes teamwork
- Must demonstrate a high level of communications aptitude through attention to detail, attention to accessibility, time management, and organizational skills, and ability to multi-task
- Requires advanced skills in Microsoft software including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Experience with event planning and management
- 1-2 years of office experience, may include experience as a student assistant
Preferred Skills and Abilities:
- Experience in an Honors program or related program
- Community service experience such as extended volunteer service or membership on a non-profit board
