Student Assistant - TRIO Student Support Services

Student Assistants are assigned to the main office. Responsibilities include receptionist and clerical work. Good customer service skills and an ability to work on multiple tasks are essential as well. Applicant must be a WSU student with a minimum class standing of sophomore, and in good academic standing with a minimum GPA of 2.50. 

Duties:

  1. Perform receptionist duties for the program including: answering the telephone, responding to emails, forwarding messages, attending to program participants & visitors, confirming appointments
  2. Perform clerical work including: Typing, filing, computer data entry, picking up the mail, and running other daily errands
  3. Maintain confidentiality of information when filing documents in students’ files
  4. Attend training sessions required by the program
  5. Maintain accurate records of time worked in the office
  6. Follow program policies and procedures
  7. Complete work assigned by program staff members under the direction of the Senior Administrative Assistant
  8. Perform duties as assigned by the Program Director

Requirments: 

  1. Enrolled as a sophomore, junior, senior or graduate student at WSU
  2. Good Academic standing
  3. Have a cumulative 2.5 GPA or better

Preferred Skills:

  1. Ability to perform clerical work
  2. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Suite and other graphic software
  3. Good customer service skills
  4. Ability to organize, prioritize and work on multiple tasks simultaneously
  5. Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision
  6. Ability to pay attention to detail
  7. Strong verbal and written communication skills
  8. Ability to keep records and maintain confidentiality
  9. Experience working with students similar to those served by SSS
  10. Good judgment and decision-making skills
  11. Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  12. Ability and willingness to work flexible hours
