Student Media Technician-Media Resources Center

The Student Media Technicians are responsible for responding to immediate support requests for classroom technology (projectors, screens, computers, DVD/Blu-Ray players, TV displays, document cameras, and more). They also participate in setup, teardown, and facilitating mediated events (conferences, speaking engagements, presentations, etc.). Basic routine troubleshooting and maintenance of the audio/visual equipment and assist in the installation of new equipment in classrooms.

Occasionally, Student Media Technicians are also called upon to act as meeting co-hosts in Zoom meetings, supporting instructors, staff, and administrators in their conducting of online remote meetings. This includes keeping participants muted, monitoring chat, and otherwise providing technical support to the host during the meeting.

The Student Media Technicians must exhibit professional behavior and dress as they frequently interact with VIP members of the WSU community like the faculty, staff, and the President. On-the-job training in audio/visual equipment included. Student Technician schedules are often variable, with some evening and weekend shifts available.

  • Must have excellent written, spoken, and telephone English communication skills.
  • Customer support attitude
  • Experience with audio/visual media technology preferred.
  • Works well with limited instruction
  • Experience with a variety of software applications, including--but not limited to--MS Office, Zoom, MS Teams, Google Chrome (and other browsers) preferred.
  • Basic working knowledge of audio equipment (mixers, microphones, etc.) and video equipment (projectors, computers, TVs) preferred.
  • ***Valid U.S. Drivers License required for on-campus positions. (This is required as you will be asked to drive department vehicles on and off campus).
