Job Description – Human Resources Intern

Summary/Objective
The human resource assistant is responsible for the administrative support of the day-to-day human resource operations including recruitment and onboarding.
 
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
·        Achieves recruitment goals and onboarding for all new job candidates
·        Handles employment application intake and interviews for entry level positions
·        Performs new hire data entry and personnel file maintenance
·        Assists with new-employee orientation including paperwork preparation
·        Assists the HR manager with HR projects
Position Requirements
·        High school diploma or equivalent required, candidates pursuing HR or Business Administration degree preferred
·        At least one year of work experience in a clerical support position
·        Any combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position
·        General knowledge with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Office.
·        Excellent organization and analytical skills are required.
·        Ability to handle multiple tasks and meeting monthly/weekly reporting deadlines.

Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. 


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a non-exempt intern position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday from either 8:00 AM to Noon or 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. School schedule can be discussed. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
